Lothar von Trotha war Oberbefehlshaber und Gouverneur im kolonisierten Namibia (1884 bis 1915 Deutsch-S\u00fcdwestafrika). In dieser Funktion erteilte er 1904 den Vernichtungsbefehl gegen\u00fcber den Ovaherero und Nama, die sich im Widerstand gegen das deutsche Kolonialregime befanden. Darauf folgte der erste Genozid des 20. Jahrhunderts (vgl. bspw. Zeller 2013: 20). Bis heute k\u00e4mpfen Ovaherero und Nama f\u00fcr eine Verantwortungs\u00fcbernahme, also eine Aufarbeitung und Entsch\u00e4digung durch den deutschen Staat, u.a. mit einer Klage vor dem Gerichtshof in New York (vgl. Pelz 2018). Lothar von Trotha wurde, in zentraler Lage und umringt von Ehrengr\u00e4bern, auf deren Infotafel zeitweise auch sein Name stand, auf dem Friedhof in Bonn-Poppelsdorf begraben. Auch wenn seine koloniale Vergangenheit und seine Verbrechen Teil medialer Debatten waren, werden diese auf dem Friedhof bisher an keiner Stelle thematisiert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
